Hot Water, Snowmelt
Infloor® Snowmelt brings the efficiency of radiant heating outdoors to melt ice and snow from commercial and residential walkways, driveways, entrances and areas that must be kept free of snow. The ability to deliver high flow rates makes the system ideal for even the toughest snowmelt heating challenges.
Infloor Radiant Snowmelt systems are also ideal for turf conditioning and treatment for sports facilities and arenas.
Infloor tubing is available in two configurations: non-barrier tubing from cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) and oxygen barrier tubing from cross-linked polyethylene (BPEX). These tubes provide excellent performance in radiant applications and provide the system designer with options for component selection. The tubing comes in three sizes -- 1/2", 3/4", and 1".
Snowmelt design is considerably different than a heating system design. Precise calculations of rate of snowfall, air temperature, wind velocity and humidity must all be factored in to determine the ideal Infloor snowmelt system for your application. Other factors include slab construction, material, depth and spacing of tubing.
Infloor electric snowmelt mats are an automatic low temperature heating source 2" under your paved surface that melts snow and ice on contact. Use on driveways, walkways, handicap access ramps, loading docks - just to mention a few applications.
Snowmelt system controls can play a critical part in optimum system performance and may consist of manual controls, snow detection controls, or idling controls. With automatic controls it is possible to maintain slab temperature, supply water temperature and boiler return water temperature at optimum operating conditions.
Your regional Infloor Sales and Service Center and their authorized dealers/installers will provide prompt design and technical expertise in creating the ideal snowmelt installation for your particular application.
Benefits/Advantages of hot water snow melt
Infloor Snowmelt Systems allow you to increase accessibility, improve safety and reduce expensive snow removal and maintenance costs. Successful applications to reduce ice and snow build-up include:
•Residential and commercial driveways
•Walkways, sidewalks and steps
•Building entrances
•Car wash entrances and aprons
•Garage ramps
•Parking lots and ramps
•Private roadways
•Aircraft runways and landing pads
•Warehouse loading docks
•Wheelchair access and egress ramps
•Sport facility turf conditioning
Applications of hot water snow melt systems
Infloor tubes are embedded directly in the concrete slab, sand bed or soil. Due to the high Cv rating (14.4), the commercial manifolds can service one or two 450-foot (135 m) lengths of 1/2" (13 mm) tube; or one 1,000-foot (300 m) length of 3/4" (19 mm) tube per manifold section. With eight supply/return modules, reset control with sensors, circulating pump, air vents and drains, preassembled manifolds can deliver up to 300,000 Btu/hr (88,800 W).
